Alan and I have been busy in the vineyard preparing for the 2011 harvest. The health of each vine has been assessed and then pruned accordingly. All the old wood has been cleared out and then the new fruiting canes bowed over and tied to the fruiting wires using our reusable rubber ties. Alan will shred the old wood, which will be used as a mulch, when he next mows the grass. It is one of the biggest and most important jobs of the year leaving the vineyard looking tidy, but rather sparse.
